Jacob is my life . My reason for being and to keep going. Jacob has only recieved the HCBS waiver for almost 3 years . I didnt know such a program existed til another parent in his special ed class told me then it was searching , hoping, jumping through almost endless hoops . His father stopped paying child support when he graduated and I have no able bodied family or friends to help me with him i did have some part time work to carry us through during the school year b4 he got the waiver but thats not possible now . He requires 24-7 supervision. Iam his sole caretaker , he needs help showering , shaving, dressing, going to the bathroom pretty much everything except feeding but he cannot prepare his own meals . He only receives 25 hours a week on his waiver they had cut it down from 30 if they cut it more i will not be able to afford rent, utilities, car ins etc he is such a sweet angel and he loves to collect dvds and travel places even if its not far from home . The ending of his schooling and no available programs nearby paints a bleak future for us without this waiver . We pray that things will will go in our favor and i wil advocate for him to the bitter end .
